About State Department for Irrigation
The State Department for Irrigation was established through Executive Order No. 1 of 2023 on Organization of the Government of the Republic of Kenya. The overall mandate of the State Department for Irrigation is to develop policies, strategies and guidelines on irrigation development and management; Mapping, designating and developing areas ideal for irrigation schemes; water harvesting and storage for irrigation development and flood control management; Development of irrigation schemes infrastructure; Undertaking irrigation schemes management, Land Reclamation; and regulation and coordination of the irrigation sector.
